This limited-edition rum from Fiji belongs to the Planteray Single Cask Collection 2026. It is made from sugarcane molasses at the Paradise Beverage Distillery, where the molasses ferments for four to five days before being distilled in a column still. The spirit was distilled in 2018 and bottled at 46.7% ABV in a 0.7 l bottle, presented in a giftbox.
Its maturation unfolds in three stages. The rum first spent three years ageing in ex-bourbon casks under tropical conditions, then moved to Ferrand casks in France for a further 18 months. A final 18-month finish in a Porto Lágrima cask completes the process, for a total of six years in wood. Porto Lágrima is a sweet white port from Portugal, and its casks are known for notes of honey, ripe grapes and dried fruit.
The Planteray brand, formerly known as Plantation Rum, is part of the French spirits house Maison Ferrand, and Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel is behind its barrel combinations. This bottling has a dosage of 4 g of sugar per litre and pairs Pacific rum tradition with French cask finishing, making it an appealing choice for fans of cask-aged spirits.
