This limited-edition single-cask rum from Fiji belongs to the Planteray Single Cask Collection 2026. It is made from sugarcane molasses at the Paradise Beverage Distillery, where the molasses ferments for four to five days before being distilled in a traditional pot still. The spirit was distilled in 2019 and bottled at 48.4% ABV, with no added sugar. It comes in a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a giftbox.
The rum is matured in three stages. It first spends four years in ex-bourbon casks under tropical conditions, then a further 19 months in Ferrand casks in France. It finishes with 18 months in a multi-oak cask built from American and French oak. In total, the maturation lasts around seven years and one month.
The multi-oak finish is designed to showcase the influence of different oaks. American oak traditionally contributes softer woody notes, while French oak adds structure and spice. The result pairs Pacific rum tradition with French barrel ageing.
Planteray, formerly known as Plantation Rum, belongs to the French spirits house Maison Ferrand. Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel guides the brand, which is known for inventive cask combinations. This bottling is a rarity in the Single Cask series and an intriguing choice for lovers of cask-aged spirits.
