This specimen is a combination of Clear Quartz and Clinochlore. The clinochlore appears as secondary mineral as a fine, sparkling druzy coating over the surfaces of the quartz crystals. The "glittering" effect is caused by the high reflectivity of the clinochlore flakes. As a member of the phyllosilicate group, clinochlore has a layered structure that reflects light from its perfect cleavage planes, creating a silky, brilliant luster. The name is derived from the Greek chloros , meaning green. Chemically, it is a magnesium aluminum silicate tinted dark green by iron and magnesium within its crystal lattice.
