Petrified Wood

Petrified wood is a unique type of fossilized terrestrial vegetation, formed through the process of permineralization. This occurrence took place millions of years ago when trees were buried under thick layers of sediment or volcanic ash, protecting them from decay by excluding oxygen. Over time, mineral-rich groundwater circulated through the sediment, replacing the organic plant cells with silica (quartz, chalcedony, or opal). The result is a solid stone that perfectly preserves the original tree rings, bark texture, and cellular structures of prehistoric forests. The various colors seen in the wood—reds, yellows, and browns—are caused by trace elements like iron, manganese, or copper present during the fossilization process.

Metaphysical properties

Petrified Wood carries a deep, grounding energy that connects us to the history of the Earth and the steady rhythm of nature. It is highly valued for promoting stability, security, and perseverance during challenging times. It helps in calming survival-based anxieties and encourages a practical, balanced approach to life. It is an ideal companion for those who feel disconnected from their roots or wish to strengthen their bond with ancestral knowledge.
