Togouchi Premium is a Japanese blended whisky from Hiroshima Prefecture, bottled at 40% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle. It blends Japanese malt and grain whiskies, with malt whisky making up around 10 per cent of the blend. The whisky is distilled, matured and blended entirely in Japan and meets the applicable Japanese standards for Japanese whisky.
It is made by the Sakurao Distillery, whose roots go back to Chugoku Jozo, founded in 1918. The distillery draws on long experience with traditional Japanese spirits and pairs it with modern whisky-making methods. The careful combination of the different whisky components gives a balanced character that reflects the distillery's house style.
What sets this bottling apart is its maturation. The whisky rests in selected oak casks, some of them stored in a former railway tunnel in the Hiroshima region, where steady temperatures and consistent humidity create exceptional conditions for ageing.
